5 things to skip at dollar stores

Dollar stores are full of tempting offers, but there are some things you should avoid purchasing at one. These five items should be avoided and saved for another store.

Toys: You get what you pay for in buying toys at the dollar store. They are often poorly made with parts that easily break, and thus becoming a choking hazard.

Batteries: Though it's incredibly cheap to buy batteries at the dollar store, they might last an hour. Furthermore, the low quality has the potential to be harmful to your device.

Medicine: It's not worth the risk to buy off-brands that are not well-regulated and tested. Save your medicine purchases for another store.

Paper products, such as toilet paper and paper towels: These are usually very low quality, one-ply products. You can find similar, even better quality, items at Wal-Mart for less than a dollar.

Pet food: Again, it's not worth risk of your pet getting sick from low quality food to save a few dollars. You could very well end up paying far more than the difference in veterinary bills.

You can find some great bargains at dollar stores, just be careful what you buy. Do your research to make sure you really are getting a good deal.
