How can I become more spiritual?
Question from: Karen Giles, PA
I really like this question because most people think of spirituality in terms of their religion or belief system, when in actuality it is the intimate connection that you have with the Beloved. It is the connection between the seen and unseen where magic happens.
The world of spirituality is where all religions, philosophies, and belief systems can coexist within the personal relationship each of us form with the divine. You can be an Atheist and still be spiritual because you cannot separate from your soul, which is connected to the unseen and gives us life. Anyone who has had a near death experience and remembers it, knows that God abandons no one, even those who do not believe that God exists, and all pathways lead back to the Creator.
So, back to the question, “How can we become more spiritual?”
Find a belief system that works for you: Some of us have been following the same path for as far back as we can remember whether it be Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Muslim, Judaism, Agnostic, Metaphysics, Wiccan, Atheism, or whatever. Other's have tried several different paths, all in search of a deeper connection to the Beloved. Each of these pathways are meant to connect you to your divine self and they are all good if you believe them to be. If you are seeking, look in your local periodical to find a group, church, or club that resonates with where you are in your spiritual growth. In Colorado Springs, try looking in The Gazette, The Independent, or Terra Essentials and feel free to try something new. Try different spiritual events until you find the ones that are right for you. Always be open to growing.
Use meditation to connect to source: Meditation is a form of prayer that does not seek to tell Beloved what to do. Instead, it is a sacred time devoted to listening to what the Beloved has to say and trying to feel its presence within us. I suggest taking at least 15 minutes each day to connect to your Creator. The more you connect the more you will feel connected.
Take hikes and connect with nature: Nature is one of God's wonderful gifts that helps to reconnect you to your higher-self. Just thirty minutes of moving your body, smelling the earth, and being in the beauty of nature can lift your vibration closer to your divine source and make you a better you. I might suggest this trail site for those in Colorado Springs area.
Share your loving light with other people: This is very important; you cannot experience oneness by yourself. Jesus said it this way, “Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, there I am in their midst.” (Matthew 18:18-20). Beloved is asking us to bring our light together and agree to love just a little bit more; to ask for what you want and to create in community.
Let go of judgment: When we judge others as being wrong, we really don't have faith that God has a plan greater than our own. Judgment just gives our Ego a boost to control people and situations even more, and it does not allow a space for love to grow. If God is love, we should make every effort to be love as well.
Ultimately, underneath all the beliefs and drama is the soul trying to shine its way back into your conscious life. It rests right there above your heart, and seeing it in yourself and others is the spiritual magic that connects you intimately with the Beloved.
