Delta Society Pet Partners Animal Assisted Therapy programs are recognized and respected in every state and over ten countries. If you think this is a volunteer activity you want to explore with your pet, follow these five easy steps:
Step 1: Ask yourself these questions:
- Is my pet temperamentally and behaviorally reliable?
- Is my pet comfortable in a variety of settings?
- Does my pet seek out new people and experiences?
- Is my pet friendly with other animals?
- Does my pet not only tolerate handling but enjoy it?
- Do I feel confident in my ability to control my pet at all times?
- Am I comfortable with new people and experiences?
- Can I raise the skill level of my pet and myself as Handler to ensure safety?
- Do I enjoy sharing my love for my pet with others?
- Do I have time to commit to a volunteer assignment?
Step 2: If possible obtain your AKC Canine Good Citizenship Certificate prior to attending a Delta Workshop.
Step 3: Attend a Pet Partner Workshop or complete the Home Study course.

If no Workshops are posted, locate Instructors and Evaluators in your area by visiting http://www.deltasociety.org/Page.aspx?pid=367and; scroll down to your City/State and contact them directly for their schedule.
Step 4: Schedule your Team Evaluation.
Step 5: Assuming you have passed the Evaluation, submit your Registration Packet to Delta Society.
Then embark on the greatest activity you can share with your pet!
