After eating lunch at this fabulous eatery, you will not only want to kiss the cook but many of you may want to take them home with you! Nestled on the south side of Glendale Avenue with an American flag flying proud is where you will find Kiss The Cook.
You walk in to a delightful decor of antiques and coffee mugs. The smells wafting from the kitchen circle around you assaulting your senses like a hug from an old friend. The wait staff is friendly, helpful, and they really do treat you like one of the family.
After being seated, drink order taken, you find all sorts of delectable treats on an easy to read, flip over menu. Omelets, waffles, biscuits and gravy, and the home made pecan roll are listed, along with other breakfast foods like oatmeal. Flip to the other side where the homemade sandwiches and salads further tease your palette.
The ooey gooey-ness of the pecan roll screams your name and your stomach thanks you. The warm caramel sauce, the fresh pecans sprinkled on top of a fluffy melt in your mouth roll. Mere words can not express.
Hot, airy buttermilk biscuits covered in ham and sausage gravy envelope your mouth in sweet bliss. If you prefer eggs, Kiss the Cook makes the fluffiest omelets this writer has ever seen! The omelet was big and loaded with delectable toppings of snow peas, mushroom, water chestnuts, and onions all topped with Monterey jack cheese.
The special of the day was the meatloaf sandwich topped with tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and green chile on toasted rye bread. The meatloaf was juicy and tender! The sandwich as a whole was simply fantastic.
There was really only one tinge of hmm, good but wouldn't have again and that was the chicken and wild rice soup. This soup is creamy, and the thought kept lingering what if this were a vegetable based soup instead? The chicken was tender, and the rice was plentiful, just felt something was missing.
