If you are searching for St. Patrick's Day apps for your family (or class) you may soon discover that many are not truly child-friendly. As teachers, we like to add color and "magic" each March within rainbow-themed learning tasks. Now that we use touchscreens with kids, we also want such themes for our iPads and iPhones.

Here is a collection of 5 rainbow & St. Patrick's Day themed apps for "leprechauns" young or old. They are brimming with fun, but void of violent game-play. This set includes games of skill, apps for creative expression, and even a game for toddlers in your family. As a St. Patrick's Day app set, they are perfect for March and the spring-time months ahead. Enjoy!

1. Rainbow Catcher (by Mrs. Judd's Games) is a fun rainbow-themed game for kids and adults that involve skillful eye-hand coordination and a bit of strategy. You'll soon be addicted to this game as you aim & connect like colors of rainbow drops. The graphics and physics are both great in this magical world of a flying unicorn and rainbow colors!

2. St Patrick's Runner (by MTree Enterprises) is a delightful running game where players need to help their running leprechaun jump to avoid ravines, snakes, flying unicorns and other obstacles. This game is free upon download, but parents should purchase the ad-free version right away for kids! Good luck with this very fun St. Patrick's Day game of skill.

3. St Patrick's Day Mahjong (by 24/7 Games) is for all those who LOVE both Mahjong and St. Patty's Day. Classic Mahjong tiles are given a touch of Irish "green" with illustrations of leprechaun hats, pipes, frothy mugs, pots of gold, and various patterns of shamrocks. Players will enjoy the fun challenge of finding matching pairs among these many intricate details.

4. Kids Doodle HD - Colorful Rainbow Kids Games (by XIAOQING HU) gives players of all ages easy-to-use tools to create rainbow-doodles that look amazing when they become animated movies for replay. Select from various rainbow paintbrushes, interesting backgrounds, or draw on your photos to make fun rainbow-themed works of art & videos! Kids of all ages love sharing their creativity and movie-making with others. Try it!

5. Piano Ball (by 4baam) is for the musical toddler in your family. Wee ones play on a multicolored dynamic keyboard to create bright rainbows of color, original compositions, or preset tunes. Parents can help kids who want to stay in their favorite mode by using the double-click feature that locks the app until you double-click again. Don't miss the rainbow-mode and the various musical instruments in this fun app!
