With the new year in full swing you probably made the resolution get fit and make the gym a daily habit. Therefore you may need to get some athletic apparel. Let me tell you something. I'm an Athleta convert. I used to not like the idea of spending a lot of money on activewear, but compared to Lululemon, the pricepoints at Athleta can almost seem like a steal. I have an active lifestyle anyway so the brand makes sense for me. Plus, the overall quality is pretty decent. Since I use the products 80% of the time I can justify the few choice purchases that I do make.
Below are 5 reasons why I love the brand.
1. Great Return Policy
What I love about the brand is that they have an uber-generous return policy. If you don't like something at any time you can return it (even if you've worn it). They have a Give it-a-Workout Guarantee and their motto is "Love it or return it. Any time. Any reason."
No Questions Asked
This one cute summer dress looked great and I wore it like once or twice but then it didn't fit into my overall lifestyle so I returned it. No questions were asked. I saved the receipt and the tag was not attached to the item. I mean, use common sense, I probably wouldn't return something with holes or wear. Being able to return something that was gently used gave me confidence in the brand.
2. Great Product
I've found some great items that fit in with general active lifestyle which includes tennis, running, kickboxing, cycling and yoga. Their tennis skirts are PHENOMENAL and have POCKETS which is lacking in many tennis skirts today. You mostly have to put the tennis balls in leggings which can be uncomfortable at times.
Their Rishi jacket I love! I like their pockets because I could just put my keys or iPhone there and zip it up and not have to worry about them falling out. I've bought two in fact and it's on sale here.
Other purchases include a cardio/yoga tank and multi-sport shorts. The quality is great but you should also take good care of what you have and air dry after washing to help retain the clothing's shape.
3. Lifestyle and Motivation
The brand reflects my lifestyle. I'm committed to fitness anyway and I like the positive images of real active everyday women (not models or celebrities) on their website and catalog. They have inspiring stories on their Chi Blog which included a profile of a 72-year old woman who completed several Ironman races. That's a hard core race that takes place in Hawaii every year. It includes 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of biking and 26.2 miles of running. Now THAT's inspiring and had motivated me to register for an indoor triathlon which I'm scheduled to race next month.
4. Sales Section
It's hit or miss but there are a few gems there if you're willing to try stuff on. I was able to score shorts for cycling and running and also another Rishi jacket. Actually they have a sale going on right now where you could save up to 60% off. Click here for details.
5. Reusable Shopping Bags
Another thing I like is that they give you reusable shopping bags like Lululemon does. The bags are great and I not only use them when I go back shopping at Athleta, I use them for traveling or grocery shopping.
Like anything, you should probably try on stuff before you buy and make sure an item fits. As of right now though I see Athleta as a value added brand on my list.
