Dragon Ball , created by Akira Toriyama in 1984, ran from then until roughly 2011 ending with Dragon Ball Kai-a remake of much faster paced version of Dragon Ball Z . The Dragon Ball series was so popular there is a movie based off of it called Dragon Ball Evolution.
Here are 5 reasons why Dragon Ball will always remain popular:
1. Click on YouTube. There are about 701,000 videos which pop up from typing in Dragon Ball into the search box and each features a scene or AMV in tribute to it.
2. People love knowing they can wish to bring something back. In Dragon Ball, people are in search of the glowing orange orbs which when you collect all 7, a dragon appears and can grant you any wish. The series incorporated this “genie-like” appeal with action packed scenes unrivaled by any other.
3. Love, friendship, and different worlds. In each episode there is the camaraderie which we grow to love. We clap and cheer for the main hero Goku as he battle impossible creatures and foe.
4. Long running series. We like things to last forever and Dragon Ball almost did. However it lives on via fan sites and YouTube.
5. Action packed fun for everyone. It seems fanfiction.net has Dragon ball stories hitting the 36,000+ range.
If you’re looking for an action packed animation you can grow to love, or that grows on you and captures the heart of sacrifice, friendship and family- then Dragon Ball is for you.
