5 questions to Cathy Matarazzo, author of 'Freedom Wake'

Cendrine Marrouat: Hello Cathy and thank you for answering my questions. Tell us a little more about you. What do you do? 

Cathy Matarazzo: Well I basically “just show up”! I know that sounds absolutely crazy but it’s really not that far from the truth. I guess I can say that I am simply a normal everyday Winnipeg gal with an extremely big open heart which allows me the privilege and blessing to serve spirit in a very powerful way. I basically help people to remember the truth of who they really are ... once the masks and illusions disappear people are left looking through very different lenses that allow for the perfection and wholeness of the soul to peek through! As an ordained spiritual peace minister, energy healer, friend, mother, wife, sister, daughter (you name it, the list goes on), I am basically YOU ... a reflection of the sameness that flows within each beating heart. The only difference may be the choice I have made to awaken to this truth and to honor and surrender to this way of living and serving, everyday of my life.

CM: Would you tell us about your book, “Freedom Wake”? Why such a title and what is the story behind it?

CMat: The name "Freedom Wake" came to me from a dream I had and it basically is a celebration of the inherent freedom and peace that resides within each and every one of us. A wake is a celebration and/or and awakening to. This entire concept is certainly modelled from many ancient truths and wisdoms but just described and interpreted in my own way from my many years of my working very closely with hundreds and hundreds of people. I have been so blessed to be able to share so intimately in the discovery of another’s sacred truth, as well as my own. It is something that I hold very deep within my heart with much respect and honor! It is definitely a beautiful gift for one to trust another with an open heart … certainly not a given, that is for sure! The story itself is truly a reflection of the process we all go through as human beings in search of higher truth and remembrance. The Freedom Wake Process is really the awareness of the birth, death and rebirth movements accompanied with all human experience. It truly is a gifting for the world to recognize within self and celebrate the magnificence of who we all are …

CM: In a day and age when religion has become a bone of contention, what role can spirituality play in people’s lives locally and globally?

CMat: Spirituality can offer a life of much comfort and support, inspiration and strength, clarity and deeper understanding as we all try to find our way to maneuver this plane of existence. The root of our essence is the same regardless of the religious or non-religious views and dogmas we adopt as truth. All the major religions share the same core within their structure ... although communicated and expressed differently, the essence is truly only about love and peace. Once we can openly connect with our spiritual ways, the doors to freedom open!

CM: Are there any upcoming projects and/or events in your busy schedule?

CMat: Yes, as part of the freedomwake movement that has begun, there will be a teleseminar being offered shortly to further enlighten the content of the book more in depth, as well as to add support for the integration of the process for people to embrace. Through the grace of the universe, we have made it out of round one and are now in the process of supporting the second round of competition in the “nexttopspiritualauthor” experience, so there are more videos being recorded to share the message globally. This work and serving has opened many doors as we are now beginning to organize the “real talk, real people, real experience” portion of this greater Freedom Wake movement. There will be a Freedom Wake documentary coming soon which actually is a very powerful means of showing and offering the message to the world simply because it is about everyday people and their own personal wakes to freedom. This really excites me because I believe there is nothing more inspiring than to hear or watch another’s personal walk – it can be a very powerful catalyst to help people embrace their own paths. This is just the beginning, so I am told, with so much more to come! The time is NOW for all of us to awaken and align with this deeper truth so that our tomorrows can be all of that which we so desire them to be!
