5 Points Pictures announces ‘Penny Pinchers’ for May

In an announcement made yesterday, the 5 Points Pictures branch of Right Stuf, Inc. revealed that they would be releasing the South Korean romantic comedy “Penny Pinchers” in North America in mid-May 2013.

“Penny Pinchers” is also known as “Penny Pinching Romance” and is the feature film debut of Kim Jung-hwan, who directed and wrote the original screenplay. The movie stars Song Joong-ki (A Werewolf Boy) and Han Ye-seul (Miss Gold Digger).

In the romantic comedy, Song Joong-ki plays Ji-woong, a young man who can’t find a job and lives off of the allowance his mother gives him, until one day his family cuts him off and his landlord evicts him. Unsure what to do he is approached by Hong-sil (Han Ye-seul), a modern-day Scrooge, dedicating her life to saving as much money as possible by doing whatever it takes. Hong-sil takes Ji-woong under her wing as her apprentice and roommate, marking the beginning of their thrifty journey together.

5 Points Pictures will release “Penny Pinchers” on DVD May 21, 2013 for $24.99. It will be presented in Korean with upgraded English translations and includes more than 30 minutes of extras from the South Korean limited-edition release. To learn more about the film you can visit this link.
