We’re just really getting into the New Year, and into winter, too - but thankfully, the musical landscape in Louisville hasn’t frozen up! These are just five of the best upcoming music events coming close to us this February:

Alice in Chains at the Louisville Palace, Feb. 23rd - Legendary rock band(and one of the original ‘grunge’ bands) Alice in Chains is coming to Louisville, and while it may be a bit strange without frontman Layne Staley, who was lost to substance abuse in 2002, Alice in Chains is trying to carry on with new vocalist William DuVall. The band already released one album with DuVall - Black Gives Way To Blue -  and it wasn’t received too badly, so this is definitely a show to check out. For more info and directions, see the Palace’s official website.

Louisville is for Lovers Events at WFPK, the Seelbach Rathskeller, and the Vernon Club, Feb. 12th, 13th,14th - This Valentine’s Day weekend, Louisville is For Lovers is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary, so there are some cool things going on to celebrate. Depending on your mood, there is a different show for you; info at the official Louisville is for Lovers website.

Terrance Simien at Whitney Hall, Feb. 12th - Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience are holding their Annual Mardi Gras party this year at Robert S. Whitney Hall. Mardi Gras celebrations are always fun, and this should be good!

Wax Fang, Lucky Pinneapple at Headliner’s, Jan 31st - Okay, perhaps not technically February, but it’s close enough, and this looks to be a promising show. Local favorites Wax Fang and Lucky Pineapple lead the troupe, but they’re not the only ones scheduled to play; D.W.B.O.X. Second Story Man and Ultrapulverize are also playing, so this should be a varied and fun concert to attend. See the official Headliner’s website for more info.

Day of Fire, Nonpoint at Phoenix Hill Tavern, Feb. 25th - As with the above event, the two listed aren’t even the only ones playing. If metal and hard rock are more your thing, than this is the show for you.
