  • Dumbbell Bench Press

These are keys to effectively building and maintaining muscle mass in your chest. There are many variations that you can do to help you get to where you want to be at. The key is to stay consistent and work those muscles on a regular basis.

The Bench Press

The bench press is an awesome lift for an impressive chest, and while it can be done various was. Here are a few tips to help you stay as effective as possible when doing it!

1. Don’t bounce the bar off your chest, first off it’s not safe, and second it can become a bad habit, simply touch the bar on your chest then push up!
2. Grip the bars in front with your thumbs and not in back. I’ve seen some people get injured by not doing this, especially if you don’t utilize correct form!
3. Don’t lock out your elbows – one this is bad for your elbows and 2 it makes the exercise easier, meaning you WON’T get the results you want from the exercise by making it easier!

The Incline Bench Press

This is another awesome lift that can help put some size on you. Here are a few tips to help you out for those of you just getting started.
1. Make sure that you lower the bar up and down to the upper part of your chest, make sure you do it straight though, don’t go at angle.
2. Don’t cheat on the lift; by bouncing it you lose full range of motion and timing. Timing is necessary to put the needed amount of strain on your muscles. You will get the most out of the exercise if you do it in the same speed going down as you would going up!
3. Be careful with the angle that you up the bench, 30 degrees is good enough to hit it accurately.

DIPS

Most people think that dips are just a Tricep exercise, but their wrong. If you do them slowly you will FEEL the impact area this exercise hits, and it’s a must have for an awesome chest!
1. Don’t add weight when you first start, if the exercise feels to easy then go slower or add reps.
2. Don’t go too far down, just go far enough down that you feel it, you increase the chance of getting hurt if you go down too far.
3. Lean forward, by doing this it helps to incorporate more chest than shoulders!

The Decline Bench Press

Just like incline bench press this is awesome for hitting certain parts of your chest, it’s also a must have if you want to add size to your chest!

3. Be careful with the angle that you up the bench, 30 degrees is good enough to hit it accurately just like the incline press, but towards the opposite angle

Dumbbell Bench Press

This is an awesome exercise utilized by everyone looking to enhance their chest!

1. Make sure you have an even grip on both dumbbells, also be sure that you lower with a slow steady motion, and push back up in the same motion.
2. Keep your legs and feet planted down and your butt on the bench. Don’t try to curve your back while lifting; this cheats the lift and the whole purpose of it.
3. Use weights that YOU CAN HANDLE, don’t be a show off and try weights that can get you hurt!

These are just some of the exercises to do, but these will really help you get some size on your chest if you do it correctly. Remember to seek professional advice if you're new to the lifting game. Don't try to do things you don't know how to do, that's the quickest way to getting hurt!
