I'm proud to say that my 5 month old son Maxwell hosted his first charity event this weekend and got an amazing introduction to what it means to give back and help others. Maxwell hosted a holiday party and toy drive to benefit the children at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Family and friends came out and enjoyed delicious snacks, Ruby Red Sangria featuring The Naked Grape's Pinot Noir, IZZE's line of sparkling juices, VITA Coco's refreshing coconut water, Emergen-C's fizzy healthy drinks, hot chocolate and tons of sweets. Guests wrote heartfelt holiday cards to the kids at CHLA and donated an incredible array of toys, stuffed animals, activty sets, board games and video games for the deserving children in the hospital. A special thanks to all of the fabulous brands and generous families who supported Maxwell's 1st Annual Toy Drive.
Since the holiday season is in full swing, you can turn your holiday event into a party with a purpose by asking your guests to donate a new and unwrapped toy which you can deliver in time for XMas & Hanukkah to the kids at CHLA. If you live outside of Los Angeles, visit Children's Miracle Network Hospital's site and you can find the local Children's Hospital in your city. I am a firm believer in teaching children at an early age the importance of giving back and make a difference in the lives of others. What better way to instill that important lesson in your children, then to have them show love and support for sick children in their community. I can promise you that thinking of others during the season of giving is a beautiful and meaningful way to celebrate the holidays.
In other holiday news, the winner of Coastal.com's holiday designer shades giveaway is Ryan Devlin, whose favorite dish to serve at his holiday party is "bourbon, with a side of bourbon." His cheeky answer gave me a good laugh and also prompts me to warn any of Ryan's family and friends to make sure not to attend his holiday party on an empty stomach. And someone gift this man some cooking lessons for XMas. ;)
Happy Holidays to you all!
