Five people have been killed in a head-on crash in Georgia Friday evening (Feb. 8). The collision reportedly took place around 6:45 pm near LaGrange. According to a report on the accident from Saturday (Feb. 9), LaGrange is located about 45 miles north of Columbus.
In addition to the five people who were killed, two additional people were also injured in the crash. It was reported that one person was even airlifted to Atlanta Medical center. No names or a cause to the collision has been released at this time, likely pending family notification from the incident.
This tragic accident is very reminiscent of one that took place in Georgia back in June of 2010. According to a report on that tragic news, the driver of a Honda Accord tried to pass a second car on a blind turn in a no-passing zone when the accident occurred on Route 39.
Two groups of friends had reportedly been driving westbound on the two-lane highway near the entrance of South Fork Canyon and 10500 East just before 8 am when it happened. The Accord that tried to pass the other car smashed into a Ford F-350 in a horrific head-on collision that killed all five occupants of the car. All five people (all under 22 years old) who died in the accident had not been wearing their seatbelts.
