Arts and crafts have been my passion since I was a small child and now as adult, I really enjoy sharing the passion of art with kids. It is a fun passion to share because most kids do love arts and crafts, so it easy to have a really good time with kids while working on art activities.
I also really enjoy springtime and spring art activities for kids are so fulfilling because spring is a time of renewed growth and development and it parallels the creating of an art activity that is done by the hands of a child.
Here you will find five fun spring art activities for kids; each art activity will bring thoughts of spring and will inspire creative development.
Flower inspired art activity
Cut out two flower shapes from contact paper, peel back the paper from one of the flower shape contact paper and have kids place flower petals or small wild flowers that were collected from outside on to the sticky contact paper. Place a green pipe cleaner on the edge of the flower so that it has the appearance of a stem and then peel back the paper from the other flower shape contact paper and press it on to the flower petals and pipe cleaner. The flower petals and pipe cleaner should be sandwiched in between the two pieces of contact paper. The beautiful spring art activity looks wonderful displayed on a wall or hanging from a ceiling.
Pussy Willow art activity
This art activity for kids is a great project to do when studying plants and trees in the classroom or at home. Show children real pussy willow branches and talk about the way in which the branches grow and the way that the seeds come off the pussy willow and blow away. Have kids draw pussy willow branches on large construction paper using crayons or markers and then cut off the ends of Q-tips and allow kids to glue the Q-tips on to the branches. This Spring art activity for kids is not only fun to do but it is also a great learning activity.
Butterfly paint art activity
This is a really fun and easy spring art activity that even the very little ones would enjoy. Take a piece of construction paper and fold it in half and open back up. Have the child drop a large spot of paint directly on to the fold line, then using a different color of paint have the child drop a spot of paint on each side of the paint spot that is on the fold line. Fold the paper back in half and press down firmly. Open the paper up and the pressed paint spots will look just like a butterfly. Once the paint dries, kids can add details such as antennae or spots on the wings and even a background is a fun addition.
Daffodil art activity
Kids can cut out simple yellow flower shapes and green leaves and a stem from construction paper, then children glue a yellow paper cupcake holder to the yellow construction paper flower shape and glue on leaves and stem. The resulting Spring activity has a wonderful 3-D effect.
Seed collage art activity
Find a variety of seeds such as watermelon, pumpkin, sunflower or any type of seeds you can find and allow kids to glue the seeds on to construction paper in any manner they choose. The end result is a really interesting spring art activity that is fun to touch.
