5 Essential Oils to combat Swine Flu

Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Many viruses are termed "flu." The H1N1 Swine Flu is of most concern today. Essential oils have been effective in combating many flu-like symptoms.

Scientific research has proven that essential oils have potent medicinal properties. Essential oils are much safer than drugs because they do not stay in the body and leave no toxins behind.

Essential oils are primarily used as air fresheners. They cleanse the air by altering the structure of molecules and are effective in killing bacteria and viruses that may permeate.

Five of the best essential oils in combating Swine or any other flu include:

Tea Tree - has both antiviral and antibacterial properties.

Lavender - detoxifies and promotes healing.

Thyme - is a powerful antiviral, antibiotic, antiseptic and diuretic. Care should be taken to use Thyme oil in moderation. Overuse can stimulate the thyroid and lymphatic system.

Eucalyptus radiata - has antibiotic, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Oregano - has antibiotic, antiseptic and antiviral properties.

At the onset of flu-like symptoms, especially with the chills, add 5 drops of Tea Tree, 2 drops of Lavender and 2 drops of Thyme oils to warm bath water. Afterwards, massage your entire body with a mixture of 2 drops of Tea Tree and 3 drops of Eucalyptus diluted in 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil (olive oil is a good carrier oil). Make a spray using thyme and lavender oils and/or diffuse them in your living and bedroom areas. 2 drops of lavender oil and 1 drop of Clove oil can be added to 1 cup of hot water, add 1 teaspoon of honey, let it cool to a warm temperature and sip slowly.
