This is a great time for television if you’re an action/adventure fan. There’re a lot of well written, action packed shows on TV right now. Unfortunately a lot of them are in their final seasons and won’t be returning. And any time a great show ends, there’s always the hope that it will be turned into a movie. With the success of films like "Star Trek", "Mission Impossible", and "21 Jump Street" Hollywood is always looking to transition stories from the small to the big screen. Here’s a list of shows that would make great movies.
Breaking Bad: Currently in its final season; the adventures of chemistry teacher turned meth cook, Walter White, are coming to an end. Assuming that he doesn’t die in the last episode, we all want to see what he’s going to do next. Between building a drug empire, avoiding getting caught by the authorities, and trying to keep his family together, a follow up movie pretty much writes itself. And if done properly, Heisenberg has the potential to become a modern day “Scarface”.
The Walking Dead: One of the most intense and bloody shows on television, The Walking Dead follows former Sheriff Rick Grimes and his band of survivors as they try to stay alive in a post-apocalyptic world filled with flesh-eating zombies. How about a movie set 20 years into the future where Rick’s children, Carl and Judith, are now the leaders of the group and the zombies have evolved into something even more terrifying.
Dexter: Also in its final season, we’re all waiting to see what happens to our favorite killer and his neurotic sister. It would be interesting to see the family cycle continue by having his son, Harrison, grow up and become a serial killer; which leads to Dexter trying to teach him “the code” just like his father taught him.
Burn Notice: “My name is Michael Weston. I use to be a spy until...” And the rest is history. For 7 seasons we’ve been following burned spy Michael Weston and his loyal friends Fi, Sam, and Jesse get themselves in and out of some tight situations. With the series finale quickly approaching it’s sad to see this clever show come to an end. A James Bond type reboot would be perfect for its big screen debut. Instead of continuing where the TV series left off, the movie could cover Michael’s origin story and how he got burned.
Game of Thrones: Filled with magic, sword fights, and mystical dragons "Game of Thrones" has all the ingredients needed for a successful movie franchise. With the right director and a big budget, it could easily match or even surpass the success of “The Lord of the Rings” films.
