5 classic films to watch on Presidents' Day

While most of the time President’s day is overlooked this year celebrate it by watching these five classic films about presidents who are real and fictional.

1. Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940)

Raymond Massey starred as Abe Lincoln in this biopic film. The film covers the periods of Lincoln’s life as a woodsman to his election in 1860. Massey did a perfect portrayal of the president and it’s one of his iconic roles.

    2. Fail Safe (1964)

Henry Fonda is the president in this movie and as a big problem a squadron of bombers was sent out to nuke Moscow. So now he has to convince the Russians that this isn’t an attack and he must save them to stop an all-out war. A film that is nerve-wracking and very realistic it’s a must see because of the fine plot and the exceptional acting.

3. George Washington (1984)

George Washington is a superb miniseries about our first president which Barry Bostwick starred as him. Probably by far the most complete series about Washington and its great family viewing also good for history buffs.

4. Frost/Nixon (2008)

Ron Howard directed this historical drama about the post-Watergate interviews between British talk show host David Frost and the former president Richard Nixon. Michael Sheen and Frank Langella were superb as Frost and Nixon.

5. Mars Attacks! (1996)

For those who like less serious films Mars Attacks! is perfect. Jack Nicholson is the President of the United States in the film which is awesome. This sci-fi comedy was directed by Tim Burton and was a humorous take on Martians coming to the United States.

So this presidents’ day spend some time watching these great films with your family and friends. Also what other films do you think are worthy? Share your thoughts!
