5 Best Foods for Cancer Prevention

One of the biggest fear in the minds of many health savvy individuals in the current year remains about Cancer. How to take care? What to eat and what to avoid so that one can keep this disease at bay? Knowing that, here are few simple vegetables, herbs that can be added to our diet to prevent Cancer for us and our family.

1] Soya Bean:
Soya beans one of the staple foods for the Asians contain “isoflavones” known to help fight breast and prostate cancer. Research has shown that “isoflavones” such as “genistein” prevents the growth and spread of cancerous cells. So have some tofu or miso soup in your diet if possible.

2] Tomato:
These red fruits in our kitchen do contain not just carotene and high amount of Vitamin A and C, but also contain an antioxidant called “lycopene”. Recent researches speak about prevention of breast, prostate, pancreatic and colorectal cancer due to this particular group of antioxidant. Concentration of this antioxidant is obtained in large amount when cooked as sauce rather than by eating one or two.

3] Carrots:
Carrots are known for its chemical beta carotene known to prevent night blindness and other eye issues. When it comes to prevention from cancer; a substance known as “falcarinol” that is found in carrots that really help. Falcarinol is said to reduce the growth of cancerous cells and thus prevent cancer too. To get this effect one need to eat carrots raw rather than cooked or boil.

4] Spinach:
The green leafy vegetable that gave courage to Popeye cartoon does the same when it comes in regards to Cancer prevention. Spinach contains carotenoid called as neoxanthin that can cause prostate cancer cells to self destruct. This vegetable also contain Vitamin E and lutein that wards of liver and breast cancer when consumed.

5] Garlic:
Coming to spices, Garlic has shown remarkable qualities in regards to cancer prevention. Although know for its bad breathe, it is the compound found in it called as allixin that has shown anti tumour promoting effect in vivo, inhibiting skin tumour formation in mice. Garlic also has the power to increase activity of immune cells that fights against cancer and thus help breakdown cancer causing substances.
