The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is offering up to
$5,000 in reward money for information leading to the capture of Yarnell Bagley. The 20-
year-old Bagley has a felony warrant for his arrest, concerning a case of robbery with a
firearm. Additionally, detectives want to interview Bagley concerning facts surrounding the
death of 55-year-old Michael Sumpter who died from a gunshot wound that happened
June 24, 2014 in Citra.
In the Citra case, detectives said the agency received a call about 11 p.m. that shots had been fired in the 17300 block of Northeast 16th Terrace. Sumpter, who went next door to a relative's residence for help, was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he died at 12:49 a.m.
Bagley is a black male. He has black hair, brown eyes and a distinctive tattoo on his upper
right arm of the words “love always” over the image of a headstone. Detectives consider
Bagley to be armed and dangerous. That consideration was developed because of
Bagley’s criminal history and interaction with law enforcement. Bagley was arrested at the age of 17 with charges related to posession of a firearm, burglary of a conveyence, and escape from a juvenile detention facility.
An intense search is going on right now. “We want people to know, Bagley is a fugitive and harboring a fugitive is a serious crime,” said Major Tommy Bibb of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. “If you’ve helped Bagley in the last 72 hours, you need to call 911,” Bibb added. It is in the best interest of Bagley to turn himself in and talk to detectives, Bibb went on to say.
