We think you're near Los Angeles

4th of July brings local Arizona residents to Rocky Point

Not sure what you did for the 4th of July ? Perhaps you celebrated your independence, ate a few hamburgers or  hotdogs and watched a few fireworks...if you were in Arizona, most likely inside, on the televsion.

What you most likely did not do is spend too much time outside during the holiday. If you were in Phoenx for your 4th of July celebration you were most likely seeking cool shelter inside out of the demanding heat.

Saturday and Sunday of the 4th of July weekend hit record temperatures in Arizona with news stations flashing excessive heat warnings in red, dripping red color across the weather map over Arizona, predicting above normal temperatures.

What they didn't predict was the enourmous dust storm that would come in at 5000 elevation from Tucson and 50 miles wide, making national news and earning the name "haboob". If you were here during the dust storm on Tuesday July 5th you can even order a t-shirt announcing, "I survived the haboob  of 2011". Check out the video/photos of the haboob here.

What should you have done for the 4th of July? Perhaps you should have gone to the beach. You know surf, sand and salt..lots of water. Rocky Point Mexico, 3.5 hours from Phoenix or Tucson saw an increase in visitors this year, as those too hot from the 117 degree scorchers settled down in the cool Sea of Cortez. ( and I do mean settled down, as in the sitting in the water on floats, tubes or body surfing)
Ashley Balon a visitor of Roanoke Virginia was visiting her aunt in Phoenix and traveled to Mexico for a weekend trip to Las Palomas Resort on Sandy Beach in Rocky Point, breaking news...., in the pool bar she was shivering.

Yes, the ocean, lazy rivers and pool bars are sure ways to beat the heat in Phoenix!!! After spending the 4th of July in Rocky Point, celebrating your independence to travel where you like (a great freedom that we have in this country), the conclusion from the Arizona visitors is that sitting in the glittering blue Sea of Cortez or a cool swanky pool bar beats the 117 degrees of Phoenix. Check out Rocky Point this summer, Arizona 's beach and escape the record breaking temperatures of Arizona! The sea, lazy rivers and pool areas are calling you. For summer specials on rentals in Rocky Point click here!
