West Seattle Summer Fest is a neighborhood festival held every summer at the West Seattle Junction. The festival includes music, shopping, food, and other events. This year’s Summer Fest runs from Friday, July 11, to Sunday, July 13.
For the fourth year running, the Green Life stage will be a part of the West Seattle Summer Fest. The Green Life stage is presented by Sustainable West Seattle, a local non-profit who “educates, creates, and advocates for urban sustainability” in the West Seattle area. The Green Life stage, sponsored by Alki Bike and Board, is a series of demonstrations from local businesses, organizations, and experts in the field of sustainability.
Sustainability demonstrations and topics at this year’s Green Life stage include: Canning & Preservation with Christina Hahs from Gray Sky Farms; Solar Energy Systems with Amanda Beaudoin from West Seattle Natural Energy Systems; Backyard Beer Making with Micah Summers from the SWS Tool Library; Bike & Greenways Do It Yourself Bikes with Stu Hennessey from Alki Bike & Board; and many others.
The aim of the Green Life stage is to educate the local community on ways to make sustainability a part of their lives, whether it’s in the form of homesteading, building energy-efficient homes, or creating abundant food gardens. By interacting with the community during the festival, people will gain some knowledge and skills to make their lives a little greener.
The Green Life Stage will be located in the Chase Bank parking lot, off California Ave SW and SW Edmunds St.
Visit the West Seattle Summer Fest website for a full schedule of demonstrations and a list of exhibitors at the Green Life stage.
