The National Cherry Blossom Festival is in full bloom on DC’s National Mall. One of the highlights of the National Cherry is the Blossom Kite Festival. 2014 marks the fourth year of this big family time activity at this major event.
Kite makers and fliers from around the world participate in a various competitions like the Hot Trick Showdown, Kit Maker Competitions (Adult Division and Youth Division), Rokkaku Battle, Mini Rokkaku Challenge and Bol Races (small parachutes).
Plus, several demonstrations and fun activities for the kids and the whole family to join in and take part in at the festival – Kite Ballet, Family Open Fly and more.
The Blossom Kite Festival consists of five main areas - Competition & Demonstration Field, Family Field, Kite Club Display Area, Activity Tents, and Public Field.

This year marks the 102nd anniversary of the gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees given by Tokyo, Japan to the National Mall in Washington, DC.
