The Village Voice has announced the fourth annual 4Knots Music Festival. More than ten bands will play on two stages near Piers 16 and 17 at South Street Seaport for seven straight hours over one day only -- July 12, 2014 from 1-8 pm.
An artist lineup has not yet been announced for the 2014 4Knots Music Festival. In 2013, Kurt Vile & The Violators headlined among a slew of nine more rock acts including Marnie Stern, Parquet Courts, Reigning Sound, Steve Gunn and The Men. The 4Knots Music Festival typically features emerging artists and new acts.
Concertgoers can expect free admission to the 4Knots Music Festival again in 2014. 4Knots will admit all ages to the show, and The Village Voice emphasizes that the fest will happen rain or shine at South Street Seaport.
Pier 17 has been under construction, and The Village Voice has worked with several local groups to make 4Knot's 2014 return to the area possible. This year, the festival will expand closer to the neighborhood’s more traffic-heavy area, Fulton Market.
The name of the 4Knots Music Festival is based on local geography. The East River runs along all five boroughs of New York City and pours into the ocean near South Street Seaport at the speed of four knots.
Bud Light will return as 4Knot's main sponsor in 2014. The Village Voice has announced that an after party will take place at Webster Hall on the night the festival ends.
The festival has free admission, but the after party will be a ticketed event. The Village Voice plans to give more details about the after party soon.
