4food Becoming A Certified Gluten-Free Restaurant

Located near Grand Central Terminal in Midtown East, 4food is a new restaurant that has made its mission to “De-Junk” Fast Food.  What exactly does that mean you ask? From the 4food website:

“Our mission is to De-junk fast food™. We bring fast food that's fresh, delicious, and nutritious to all ages, lifestyles, incomes, and ethnicities. No fads, fillers, or anything artificial. We're revolutionizing counter culture, in real-time.”

4food is known for its signature (W)holeburger™ a donut shaped, beef, lamb, pork, turkey, veggie, salmon or egg patty-balanced (made whole) by one of 25 ethnically diverse Veggiescoop centers, each with unique nutritional attributes. 4food also makes Skewers with the holes we punch out of the patties, which when accompanied by Veggiescoop sides, become the perfect bunless, low-carb, sharing food.  Their quality of ingredients is impressive to say the least and is something you would expect to find in a fine dining restaurant, not a grab and go food establishment in bustling midtown.  Organic, local, and clean are three words that come to mind when describing the offerings at 4food.  Well, and delicious, of course.

What is exciting and pertinent to the gluten-free community is that 4food has begun the gluten-free certification process with Celiebo to make it not only leaps and bounds above other fast food restaurants in providing healthy meals and top-notch ingredients to their consumers, but now a safe haven for celiacs and gluten-free diners alike.

Michael Shuman, one of the co-founders of 4food, saw the imperative need for proper training, education, and certification when advertising to the gluten-free community and that serving gluten-free food is something that is not only important, but almost imperative at this point when operating a restaurant.  But it’s not just offering a gluten-free menu that is important, but offering gluten-free food free of cross contamination.

The Celiebo Gluten-Free Certification is well underway and should be wrapped up and ready for business by mid-March if not sooner.  They will host a gluten-free happy hour of sorts to kick out the certification once it is complete.  Both 4food and Celiebo are very excited about this partnership.
