Week 1 of the NFL preseason schedule kicks-off tonight and the 49ers vs Ravens live stream and TV coverage will be front and center thanks to the NFL Network. Both of these teams are coming into the 2014 season with not just a post season berth in mind, but a Super Bowl championship.
According to a fanatix report on Aug. 6, Ravens running back Ray Rice will be able to suit up for tonight's game despite being suspended for two games this season after a video surfaced of Rice dragging his wife out of an elevator during the off season. Rice's suspension will start when the regular campaign opens.
While odds makers are favoring the 49ers as one of the teams to beat this season, the Ravens don't believe they are far off the pace in the chase for another Lombardi Trophy. With the additions of TE Owen Daniels and WR Steve Smith from Carolina, to go along with Jacoby Jones and Dennis Pitta, quarterback Joe Flacco will have a lot of options on offense in 2014.
As for the 49ers,they are once again stacked from top to bottom. However they will only go as far as Colin Kaepernick can take them. Since Kaepernick took over for the now departed Alex Smith, he has shined in his role as the team's leader, but Kap knows that the heat is on and the 49ers are one of those "Super Bowl or bust" teams in 2014.
I think it's the level of competition is higher, he told the media Tuesday via SB Nation. The first year, everyone was just trying to understand and see where they fit in. I think now everyone is confident in what our offense is doing, what our defense is doing and we feel like we have such a high caliber of player here that getting a starting spot, getting a spot on this roster is difficult and people are fighting for those jobs. I think that's where a lot of the tension, a lot of the frustration comes in is people fighting and grinding to try and find their place.
Sure this game does not count in the big scheme of things, but when the whistle blows tonight at kick-off it will be Harbaugh vs Harbaugh and you can bet each team will be playing to win.
Fans can catch all the action on the NFL Network nationally and streaming live online through NFL Network.com. The kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST. Baltimore is a 2-point favorite with the over/under number listed at 37.
