The 49ers were on their Bye week for Week 9 of the NFL season. San Francisco (6-2) looked like they were about to gain half a game on the Seattle Seahawks when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers jumped out to a 21-0 lead.
Seattle rallied after trailing by three touchdowns in the second quarter and it was their biggest comeback in franchise history. They had three turnovers, but tied the game after the two minute warning before Steven Hauschka kicked the game winning field goal in overtime. Tampa Bay remains as one of two winless teams.
The 49ers will host the Carolina Panthers in Week 10 as the season resumes. Carolina is coming off a 34-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Meanwhile, the 49ers released Nate Stupar to open another roster spot on Saturday afternoon. Mario Manningham and Eric Wright must be on the 53-man roster by Wednesday as the three week practice window closes.
-The St. Louis Rams lost 28-21 to the Tennessee Titans.
