According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, San Francisco 49ers Director of Player Personnel Tom Gamble will interview for the St. Louis Rams general manager position this Tuesday.
Gamble just finished his 24th NFL season and his seventh year with the 49ers. Gamble was promoted to his current position when Trent Baalke was named the general manager last year. Gamble had served as the Director of Pro Personnel for the previous seven years.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher knows Gamble well. Gamble worked with Philadelphia's personnel department from 1988-94, serving as a college scouting administrator, area scout, contract negotiator, and later served as the director of pro scouting during his tenure. During that time, Fisher was the Eagles' defensive coordinator from 1988-90.
Gamble mainly dealt with most of the college scouting this past season and with the successful draft class the 49ers produced, he holds a high value to any teams looking for a general manager. And with his knowledge of the 49ers, it could helpe the division rival Rams in the long run.
