49ers rumors have Ray McDonald getting arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence. These San Francisco 49ers rumors about McDonald were confirmed by the Los Angeles Time mid-morning on Sunday (Aug. 31). According to the report, the San Jose police were called to an address on Bentley Ridge Drive and McDonald was taken into custody. He has since posted bail ($25,000) and has been released. This won't be the end of his troubles, though, especially because he could face a suspension from the NFL now.
It was just last week that the league updated its domestic violence policies after receiving a lot of pushback due to how they handled the Ray Rice arrest. Under the new rules, the first offense for violations “regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games.” It means McDonald is looking at a six-game suspension from the league and he may have just let down his team in a very big (and costly) way.
These San Francisco 49ers rumors come at a really bad time, as the franchise is still trying to deal with the loss of linebacker Aldon Smith. Smith got suspended for the first nine game of the upcoming NFL season due to his violation of the personal conduct policy. Now they are going to lose defensive tackle Ray McDonald for an undetermined amount of time if the case doesn’t clear itself up. This would make McDonald the first player to be punished under the new domestic violence policies.
