Starting free safety Eric Reid - the teams first round-pick - led the way with six tackles and his first career interception off an Aaron Rodgers pass tipped by James Jones. He made a nice stop on punt coverage and delivered hits reminiscent of the departed Dashon Goldson.

Second-round tight end Vance McDonald caught a 25-yard pass from Colin Kaepernick during an 83-yard scoring drive in the first. He was targeted a second time but the pass was incomplete.
Third-round outside linebacker Corey Lemonier - pass rushing star of the preseason - did not seen any defensive snaps, but was active on special teams recording no stats.
Dancing fourth-rounder Quinton Patton entered the game in the second quarter. He saw action on kick off coverage and in multiple receiver sets though he was not targeted.

Undrafted rookie long snapper Kevin McDermott looked very much like departed veteran Brian Jennings, snapping perfectly on punts, extra points, and field goal attempts.
