49ers LS Brian Jennings selected to go to the Pro Bowl

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that long snapper Brian Jennings will be heading to the Pro Bowl. The Green Bay Packers coaching staff, whom will be coaching the Pro Bowl, selected Brian Jennings as a "need" player for the NFC team.

The NFC roster did not have a long snapper, so selecting Jennings to join his special teams mates was an easy choice. This will be his second time to the Pro Bowl.

Joining Jennings are eight other 49ers that have already been selected to the Pro Bowl.

  • K David Akers (6th time)
  • P Andy Lee (3rd time)
  • RB Frank Gore (3rd time)
  • CB Carlos Rogers (1st time)
  • S Dashon Goldson (1st time)
  • LB Patrick Willis (5th time)
  • LT Joe Staley (1st time)
  • DE Justin Smith (3rd time)

Head coach Jim Harbaugh had said that a player had told him that he wouldn't attend. It had been assumed that running back Frank Gore would be that player after he was non-committal about going to the Pro Bowl.

However, according to Janie McCauley of the Associated Press, Gore will attend the Pro Bowl.

The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday in Honolulu, Hawaii.
