49ers fan dies after a tragic fall from a pedestrian walkway at Candlestick Park. A man fell to his death from an elevated walkway just after kickoff at the San Francisco 49ers game against the Green Bay packers. According to NFL.com on August 9, 2013, the man appeared to be intoxicated according to several witnesses.
In San Francisco, police spokesman Gordon Shyy said off-duty medics and police officers gave the man first aid until an ambulance arrived, but he was declared dead from his injuries.
The 49ers fan dies appeared to be in his 30s, but his name has not been released. It is not known how far the man fell from the Jamestown Avenue walkway, which wraps around the exterior of the stadium.
After this 49ers fan dies, it appears that this could be part of a trend as more than two dozen fans have been reported to have fallen since 2003 from stadiums. At Lucas Oil Stadium a railing collapsed injuring two fans during a Colts game in Indianapolis on Sunday as well. Earlier this year a fan in Atlanta fell to his death after dropping 85 feet on to a parking lot below.
