A 49ers fan dies after falling at the 49ers vs. Packers NFL football game in San Francisco, according to a Sept. 8 ABC News report. The terrible accident happened at Candlestick Park in San Francisco during the game.
The 49ers fan fell from the elevated walkway named Jamestown walkway during the game against the Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately multiple people witnessed this fan's untimely death. The fan, who appeared intoxicated, fell from the Jamestown walkway shortly after the game's kickoff at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
First responders for the injured fan included off duty medics and police officers. They provided first aid until the ambulance arrived. Unfortunately, the fan, who was in his 30s, died from his injuries, which were series. The 49ers fan who died has not yet been publicly identified pending notification of his family.
This is a terrible accident to have happen during the first week of NFL play. Hopefully fans around the country will take note, and be extra careful as they attend games throughout the season. The 49ers need to make sure that this Jamestown walkway is actually safe. If not, perhaps they need to install additional safety precautions, or maybe they should close the walkway so that no other fans end up falling to their death.
