Like all fans of the San Francisco 49ers, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star and recent Golden Globe winner Andy Samberg was not pleased with the result of Sunday’s NFC Championship game. Samberg appeared on “Late Show with David Letterman” last night and vented his frustration with the Seattle Seahawks following their 23-17 win over the 49ers. The man did not mince words.
“I don’t want to alienate anyone but I’m not too pleased with the Seattle franchise after last weekend. It was tough,” Samberg said. “And, as far as I’m concerned, the Seattle Seahawks can get bent.”
His verbal blast echoing like a gunshot through the Ed Sullivan theater, a shocked and confused studio audience laughed and applauded at this vicious barb, seemingly unable to comprehend the severity of his diss. But Samberg wasn’t done.
“The gloves are off,” he continued. “They can go to ‘H.’” More confused laughter followed before Samberg fired yet another shot at the Seahawks.
“As far as I’m concerned, the Seattle Seahawks can eat soup,” the comedian and rapper said, as women in the audience no doubt rushed for the exits to protect their ears from such indelicacies. Yet the Richard Sherman of comedy still wasn't finished.
“I’m not holding anything back,” Samberg said reloading his rhetorical cannon. “I’m PO’d and they can chop wood.”
At this point, even the men in the audience began to faint and David Letterman had to tell his guest to “settle down.”
