On February 1, the San Diego Public Library (www.sandiego.gov/public-library/) held its 47th Annual Local Author Exhibit reception. The event brought out many of the participating local authors and their guests. The Exhibit will run the entire month of February 2013 in the lobby of the Central Library, located downtown at 820 E Street, San Diego, CA 92101.
Entertainment for the event was provided by the Zzymzzy Quartet (zzymzzy.wordpress.com). After an introduction by Deputy Director Misty Jones, local author and writing advocate Judy Reeves (www.judyreeves.com) gave the keynote speech for the well-attended reception. Her talk focused on creativity and how each author finds their own way to generate ideas before they begin writing, including one who lays in a coffin to prepare for a writing session. Many of those exhibiting books this year are first-time authors, however, there were many authors who have released books in previous years.
The exhibit of books is available online as well as at the Central Library. To view the titles, author photos, book descriptions and links to author websites, visit the San Diego Public Library Resource Guide at sandiego.communityguides.com/authors2012.
Terry Ambrose (terryambrose.com) is an author himself and his first published novel, Photo Finish, was on display also.
