On Wednesday, September 21st, Little Rock mom Dawn Talley will travel to Washington D.C. to join 45 other women in the second annual Shave for the Brave campaign.
Dawn's son, Elijah, was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma in August of 2005. Since then, he has gone through high dose chemotherapy, radiation, stem cell transplants, and an experimental drug treatment call MLN8237. He has relapsed twice and been in remission twice. He has lost his hair 11 times in five years.
In honor of her son, Dawn will completely shave her head with other mothers across the country who have children that have been dignosed with cancer. Their goal is to raise $1 million this year for the St. Baldrick's Foundation in order to fund the research needed to beat Neuroblastoma.
They also seek to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to promote a stronger and more united childhood cancer community. You can still help them get to their goals by donating now to Dawn or any of the other mothers from across the country. You can also donate at St. Baldrick's event page.
