This year the Gulf Coast Championship will not only be a great regatta but offer some great coaching as well.

This year the class is sponsoring a regatta coach to come in and coach everyone in the regatta from boat setup and tuning to boat speed and tactics. This year’s coach is Kevin Reali, Head Coach at Eckerd College. Kevin is starting his second year as Head Coach for the Eckerd. Last year the Woman’s team placed 7th place at the ICSA Sperry Top-Sider Women’s Nationals. The Coed team made it to the ICSA Match racing national finals. Coach Reali has served as a US Optimist National Team He was also a 2 time ICSA All American at USF where he lead the bulls to multiple national final appearances.

Executive Director, John Vandemoer is really excited to have Kevin on board, “Kevin will bring a high level of expertise in tuning and boat handling to really help all sailors use the Gulf Coast Champs as not only a regatta but a stepping stone in improving their sailing Coach Reali will run a tuning clinic on Friday during registration and will be in the boat park to help sailors setup their boats and to answer any questions. Kevin will also be running both morning briefings and debriefs for the class each race day. He will be on the water both days taking video and will be there to offer feedback and coaching in between each race. The class really encourages all sailors to use Kevin’s vast knowledge.
