It looks like “42″‘s breakout star Chadwick Boseman (he played Jackie Robinson) is getting a chance to bring another black legend to life: James Brown.

Director Tate Taylor (“The Help”) signed on to direct and produce a while ago, with Mick Jagger also on board as a producer, but Universal hadn’t arranged a budget for them to put out any offers until just recently.

In a script by Jes and John-Henry Butterworth (“Fair Game”) the film will open early in Brown’s life of extreme poverty in Georgia, and follow his rise to fame.

What I am most excited about is that Tate is tapping into “The Help”‘s incredible roster for some supporting talent: Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis.

Undoubtedly one of them will be playing his mother in the younger portion of the movie, but regardless this is a great move. I have always been a fan of Biopics, and I really look forward to Chadwick knocking this one out of the park!
