40 Okla. sheriffs refuse to disarm, walk out of meeting

As more citizens in the populace become convinced that they must openly resist intimidation tactics by reckless law enforcement agents who wish to seize their guns, it seems that more law enforcement agents are catching on, breaking ranks, and following suit as well. Forty sheriffs in Oklahoma refused to disarm when asked to do so by a senator, which prompted them to walk out of the meeting.

According to The Right to Bear via Gun Owners of America, the sheriffs were attending an annual meet and greet in Oklahoma City at the state capitol building. Nothing out of the ordinary had occurred, neither was there any hint of some sort of threat aimed at attendees. The sheriffs were simply doing what they always do at these annual meetings.

But all of that changed when an unnamed senator asked the sheriffs to remove their guns during the meeting. One of the sheriffs who was there at the scene stated that officials told him that a senator, who was not named, had demanded that the sheriffs disarm during the meeting.

This prompted a strong reaction on the part of the 40 sheriffs in attendance. Not only did they refuse to disarm but they walked out of the meeting en mass:

When given the choice, Wagoner County Sheriff Bob Colbert said, “We all packed up and left.”

“One of the senators, who they wouldn’t tell us, complained because we were armed in the building,” Colbert added. “Everybody in that building knew who we were.”

“It’s a pretty sad day for me. We’re the people that protect these people,” he said.

Oklahoma is one of the most conservative states in the country, and citizens overwhelmingly value the right to keep and bear arms. But apparently not all of their elected representatives agree with their values. For this reason the senator in question needs to be named, outed, and vilified for the traitor he/she is.

The sheriffs are to be lauded for standing up for their right to have firearms in the building and for refusing to comply with the presumptuous legislator who acted as if he/she could disarm 40 sheriffs with no reason, legal or otherwise, to do so.

Sheriff Colbert stated that Oklahoma would be much better off if elected officials focused on the economy and state finances rather than attacking the rights of gun owners.
