IPad users may not realize just how space is used by items that have been downloaded. For those using a 16 GB iPad, space may become an issue quicker than expected. Even for those with larger capacity iPads it can become a problem depending on what has been downloaded. Here are a few ways to save some space.
Note: Please always remember to back up your iPad and take advantage of the iCloud before removing any items.
- Delete completed games: If you have completed a game, consider deleting it. Although you will lose your game data, if the game has been completed anyway the chances are that if you want to play it again you will start at the beginning. The game itself can remain in the iCloud for download later. You can also retain the Game Center data by selecting “Keep” when prompted.
- Delete unused apps: Take a little time and browse through all of your apps. When was the last time that you used some of them? If it has been a few months since you even opened one, consider deleting it. Again, the app can remain in the iCloud so that you have the opportunity to download it again later if you decide that you want to use it.
- Move large items to your computer: Files such as music, movies, videos, TV shows, and photos can take up a large amount of space. Consider moving these items to your computer for storage, especially if you have many. You can always move them back onto your iPad later if you would like to access them there.
- Archive or delete old magazine issues: Check out the reader used for your magazine issues. Some offer an “Archive” feature so that you can remove them from your iPad, but still access them again later. Also consider deleting older issues or those that you do not plan to reference. Again, it is best to check the magazine reader for options first.
So, if you find yourself running out of space, try these suggestions to regain it!
