4 Executive Golf indoor leagues keep golfers in the groove (Photos)

Executive Golf has four comforting answers to the chilling question of what Ottawa-area golfers can do to stay on top their games during the frosty days and nights of winter.

The virtual golf club runs a foursome of indoor leagues at Golf-O-Max that are designed to beat the January, February and March blahs for men and women golfers.

The lineup includes the Monday evening Ladies League, the Tuesday morning Seniors League, the Tuesday evening Mixed League and the Sunday evening Match-Play league.

“The four indoor leagues conducted by Executive Golf maintain the goal of fostering a club atmosphere for both members of Executive Golf and non-members,” said Andy Rajhathy, vice-president of EG. “We strive to have players of every skill level feel comfortable playing the game with others in an organized and friendly atmosphere. With the four leagues, there really is a league for every type of golfer - no matter their skill level, age or gender.”

Rajhathy adds that the leagues are set up to accommodate the schedules of all players.

“At Executive Golf, we welcome those who can make it out every week or those who can only make it once a month or even once for the whole season,” said Rajhathy. “There is no pressure, it's just about playing some indoor golf while having a great time.”

For golfers not familiar with the indoor game, they should know that thanks to cutting-edge technology, they use their own clubs and actually hit the ball; be it a drive, fairway metal, approach, chip or putt on some of the world's most famous golf courses.

After striking the ball, various sensors in the simulators assess what kind of shot the player has hit and display the ball-flight on a video screen. These sophisticated simulators pick up draws, fades, skulls, chunks, hooks and slices. They also keep score and record every aspect of each player’s round.
