The quiet wintry evening in Defiance, Ohio was rocked by the discovery of an apparent murder-suicide on Thursday, according to the Toledo Blade. While many details are still being investigated, The Defiance County Sheriff’s Department is still securing witness details to see if they can piece together what possibly caused these tragic murders.

The dead included, “Robert Garza, Sr.; his wife, Christine Garza; daughter, Zoila Garza, and granddaughter, Rebecca Garza.” The sheriff deputies investigating the murders suspected that Robert Garza is the one who murdered the others and then took his own life, reported 13 ABC News.

This is especially disturbing for the small quiet town because according to recent statistics covering violent crimes and murders, Defiance is regarded as one of the safest small towns in Northern Ohio, according to the City Data information. In fact according to recent stats, there has not been a murder committed in the town between 2008 and 2011.

The family members were last seen in mid-afternoon on Wednesday and a concerned family member discovered the bodies on Thursday, reported the Toledo Blade.
