I don't normally cover this kind of thing, but given that it was my first earthquake and it was an LA event. Why not?
A 4.4 earthquake hit Los Angeles this morning in the wee hours, at approximately 4:04 am. The quake was 11 miles deep and peaked in Pico Rivera. While the news seems to have taken a bit longer to report it, hundreds of Angelenos flooded Twitter with updates. Some were woken by the shakes, others already up but all were surprised by its short lived intensity.
The quake is considered "light" and there have no 911 calls or reports of injuries.
Geological Reports show that it was only a 4.4, but I have to say, to me if felt a bit stronger than that. But that could always be because I've only felt minor shakes in the past and this, well it was definitely a serious shake. Kind of like waves underneath my feet.
All that's left to say it Gooood Morninggg Los Angeles!
