3rd annual Sunsmart 5k run/walk for skin cancer awareness

Event Details

  • 3rd annual Sunsmart sprint 5k run/walk
  • Saturday May 1, 2010
  • 5 k run/walk start: 7 AM
  • A Fun Run for kids ages 6 and under will kick off after the completion of the 5 K race

Race Location

  • Crandon Park
  • 4000 Crandon Park Blvd
  • Key Biscayne

Race Course Information

The course is 3.1 miles long and runs along the Crandon Park
promenade, beginning and ending in the South Beach section
where post race refreshments and entertainment will be 
provided. Along the promenade you can view the dunes and
mangroves and observe herons, ospreys, and brilliantly 
colored butterflies. Remember to wear a hat for sun coverage.

Benefiting Charity

 All proceeds from the race will go to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of
Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery for research and development of new treatment options for patients with melanoma and skin cancer.

Free skin cancer  screenings  will be provided by a certified health professional or dermatologist at the race.

    According to the Split Second Timing website: "Your packet will include your bib number and race day information. An email with details will be sent a few weeks before race day to confirm location and dates for pick-up." You can also register/pick up packet on race day morning at race location (Crandon Park) from 5:45 to 6:45 AM.
