3rd Annual Locavore attracts hundreds from around Bucks County

Hundreds of Bucks County residents attended the 3rd Annual Locavore event at Superior Woodcraft in Doylestown on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Around a dozen local food producers, from farmers to bakers, showcased their products at the event.

Patrons were treated to dessert samples from Doug’s Cakes, Laurie’s Chocolates and OwowCow Creamery. Other tasty samples included wine, coffee, popcorn and farm fresh greens.

The evening was a joint effort by both Superior Woodcraft and the Doylestown Business Community Alliance (DBCA).

The goal of the event was to promote local businesses, with a special emphasis on food related companies.

Volunteers from the DBCA were on hand to discuss with attendees the role of the Alliance in Doylestown and how it is directly effected by local businesses.

The DBCA is completely reliant on local resident and business members. All of the events that the group sponsors are paid for with membership dues.

Some of these area traditions include the spring flowering hanging baskets, annual Doylestown Memorial 5K, Fall Arts Festival, winter holiday decorations, the holiday tree, lighted dreidel and Santa Claus visits.

According to DBCA volunteers, “none of which would be possible without local businesses and their joint efforts with the community.”
