Tomorrow, Sept. 19, Patrick Lomantini returns home, the final day of the 3rd Annual 50 States Tour by BarkAid, covering 50 states in 50 days to raise funds for shelter and rescue animals across the country. He will be cutting hair in his own salon, Lomantini the Salon, 2808 E. Douglas in Wichita, with all funds going to Lifeline Animal Protection & Placement (LAPP) no kill shelter.
From the start, Lifeline has been the beneficiary of this unusual fund raising event. Lomantini started his trek Aug. 1 in Maine and has spent a full day cutting hair at $20 minimum donation per cut, to raise funds for a local shelter or rescue at each stop of the tour. Last year's tour raised nearly $70,000 for shelters and rescues across the country.
There are still appointment times available tomorrow, though walk ins are welcome, those with appointments will be taken first. You are also welcome to stop by the salon and drop off a donation for LAPP to help care for the more than 250 dogs and cats at the shelter waiting for adoption. To make an appointment, call 316-260-2651.
LAPP will have some of the adoptable dogs from the shelter on hand for you to meet and volunteers to answer questions about the shelter, volunteering and adoption. this is a great opportunity to come out and support Wichita's only no kill shelter for the past 15 years.
LAPP depends solely on contributions for the community to operate. It is an all-volunteer organization. The shelter is located at 310 W. 45th St. N. and there are adoptable cats from Lifeline at area Petsmart and Petco locations.
