Nintendo of America announced today that in honor of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, 3DS owners can download the Four Swords: Anniversary Edition for free on eShop.
The download is only available till February 2, with Nintendo referring to the promotion as "4Swords4Days4Free." It appears to currently be an offer that is exclusive to North America region.
Four Swords originally released in North America in December of 2002, bundled with the remake to A Link to the Past. The Anniversary Edition was released between September of 2011 and February of 2012 as yet another free download for the DSi and 3DS.
The game itself was the first multiplayer Zelda game to be released by Nintendo. It was also the first appearance of the villain known as Vaati. One flaw of the original game was that it could only be played when connected with another player, having no single player mode. The Anniversary Edition fixed that, allowing the gamer to play on their own.
Some other inclusions in the Anniversary Edition of Four Swords are levels based on older Zelda games as well as soundtrack upgrades. The game can still be played via multiplayer, only now through wireless connection.
