The Nintendo 3DS' StreetPass feature is undoubtedly one of the system's best features. But it's also one of its most frustrating: if you've caught the StreetPass bug and have been trying to make progress in Puzzle Swap, Find Mii, or Find Mii II (and let's face it: ten Play Coins a day doesn't get you very far), you know how rare StreetPass tags can be, even in a metropolis like Los Angeles!
That's where StreetPass LA (hereafter "SPLA") comes in. We're a group of passionate gamers and 3DS lovers who all share one thing in common: we love collecting StreetPass tags, and we've taken to using StreetPass as a social tool to bring local gamers and 3DS owners together. With ten official meetups and a couple of tournament events under our belt, the group is an established, proven success, but we're always looking for more local gamers to join in the fun!
If you'd like to meet up with us, find out what our events are like, and get a bunch of StreetPass tags, your next opportunity is coming soon! SPLA's eleventh meetup is happening this coming weekend, and the more the merrier! Here are the details:
What: SPLA 11
When: Sunday, January 29th, from 1-4pm
Where: Pan Pacific Park (across from the Grove mall; parking lot is near the corner of Beverly and Fairfax)
Our events are open to kids, adults, and adult kids of all ages. We never discriminate; we just want to bring gamers together, and the more diversity the better!
Not only are our events a great way to get tags, they're also a good opportunity to try out 3DS and DS games you don't own or might be thinking of buying. We're a friendly, sharing bunch here, so if one of us has a game you want to play, just ask! You don't even need to own a 3DS or DS to attend; if you're a gamer or even just curious, that's good enough for us.
So come hang out with us and bask in the glow of that bright green light on your 3DS that lets you know when you've tagged someone! Also: prizes! That's enough to pique your interest, right?
In the meantime, if you would like more details about our group or other upcoming events (including a monthly Mario Kart 7 tournament that we're hosting every month throughout 2012, prizes included), check out our Facebook page and Twitter feed!
We hope to see you on Sunday!
