Nintendo president Saturo Iwata asked fans to be patient while waiting for favorite franchises to come to the Wii U during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on Wednesday. This includes three new entries in the various "Mario" franchises that should debut at E3 this June.
The much anticipated "Super Smash Bros." game for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS is currently on track with its development according to director Masahiro Sakurai. However, the timing to reveal the first images from the game has been specifically tied to E3 in June.
Iwata also confirmed that Nintendo is currently working on a "3D Mario action game" for the Wii U from the same development team that created the "Super Mario Galaxy" series for the Wii and "Super Mario 3D Land" for the 3DS.
A new "Mario Kart" title is also in the works.
Nintendo plans to show the new "3D Mario action game" and "Mario Kart" in playable form at E3.
