3D is still a big hit in local theaters.

It seems like yesterday that movie fans heard about 3D being the next big thing. Quite a few were skeptical because of the awful looking 3D from the early nineteen eighties. However time has shown that today’s 3D is very different from the campy earlier version.

In fact several moviegoers from the Lake area prefer movies in 3D. Movies like the newest Texas Chainsaw 3D was well received, possibly even more so than the 2D version. The Hobbit has also greatly benefited from the popularity of 3D in cinemas.

Carl, from Sulphur, and his friends say that they almost always see a movie in 3D if they have a choice. Like many other film fans, the new technology has them hooked on the 3D experience.

Some people will never get used to the format, but it seems to be as popular as when it first came back on the scene.

Both cinemas in Lake Charles offer films in 3D and 2D.
