Burlesque star Dita Von Teese has made a profession of capitalizing on the old axiom, "sex sells." Last month, to raise prices on her 1939 Packard listed on Ebay, the provocateur posted photos of herself with the car to help sell it. Is it possible she got more than the price up? Check out the slideshow of her eBay photos; the Packard is hot too.
From BoHo fashions to yard tools, it's not uncommon for a seller to feature a hot babe in the scene of an eBay image displaying the, uh, product. However, in this case, Dita Von Teese may have given both ladies and gentlemen a lesson on how it is done.
Any expectations of raw sex would be way off base. Dita sold vintage. Dita sold yesterday. Dita sold class as only the major movie stars of another era sold it. Think Rita Hayworth. She put the "tease" into her stage name, she flirted, she metaphorically winked for the pure fun of it.
Any photo in her set of promo shots were suitable pin-up art, easily imagined displayed above the bunk of a soldier in World War II. (See photos - "Cruising and Americana fashion: How WWII pin-up art influenced rockabilly" )
Though it's not largely known, Dita actually had the first personal pin-up site online. The one thing it's hard to stop thinking about while viewing Dita's photos, is that today's porn stars should take a lesson from her. Sometimes less is really, really more.
On her official website, Dita sells posters and calendars. Gentlemen may even stock up on sexy stockings and lingerie for their own sweeties. She offers signature fragrances; her latest is Erotique. Visiting her site is like a trip down Memory Lane that is as enjoyable for women to view as men. Find the links on Facebook.
